I believe that we learn, change and grow in relationship with ourselves and others. With this in mind, I view the therapeutic relationship as the cornerstone of our work together. This means that in our work together, you should feel like we are a good “fit,” meaning you feel connected, understood, and like you can be your full self. We all come to therapy as human beings first, and I draw on my experience as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend to inform my lens in the therapeutic process.

I believe that our past impacts our present, in relationship with ourselves and others; including our family of origin and past life experiences, and how they impact our relationships with partners, co-workers, friends, and children. I work with individuals, couples and families to process past stuck points, connect them to present day challenges, and change moving forward through experiences in therapy.

My work is guided by a core belief that we can’t address the mind without addressing the body. Past hurts and wounding can be stored in the body as patterned emotion and other physical symptoms, and addressing the whole picture has many benefits.

As a registered social worker and psychotherapist, I integrate cutting-edge, experiential, body-based therapies into my practice to move beyond some of the limits of traditional talk therapy. I have received specialized training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), Attachment Focused Adult Psychotherapy, Ego States Therapy (Parts Work, Reparenting), and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. My hope is that in our work together, we can move beyond coping and start healing.

As a Social Worker, I bring years of experience working with diverse families in a variety of community and mental health settings into my counselling practice. I combine a passion for social justice, empathy and clinical skills to offer a safe and supportive space to address and bring clarity to thoughts and feelings. I view counselling as a partnership, a collaboration from which my objective is to see you achieve your goals for mental well-being.

Whether you are struggling with relationships or major life events, I can support you to work through troubling emotions and develop strategies to cope. I specialize in parenting and family transitions (including a focus on perinatal challenges) and approach my work with the understanding that everyone has unique needs and inhabit different bodies, which inform their experiences in our world.

I use a range of therapy techniques and theories to inform my work, including CBT, DBT, Narrative Therapy, Attachment Theory and Mindfulness. I am also highly committed to a trauma-informed approach when using any counselling modality. I invite you to join me in a therapeutic alliance, from which I will stand beside you to recognize your strengths and achieve your personal goals as well as those you may have for your family.
